The Continued Downward Spiral of Yahoo Finance

Yahoo Finance has been on a downward spiral for years. Day by day it just keeps getting worse. There was a time when it was a valid trusted source for stock information. That time has long since past. It was an overnight thing too. One day it was a good and useful site and the next day it looked like something created by “priced right” off-shore teams who knew nothing about investing. Featured image by Free-Photos from Pixabay Malcolm Berko, may he rest in peace, was one of the best syndicated investment advisors I ever read. He was a big believer in DRIP (Dividend Re-Investment Plans/Programs). He had many good rants about Yahoo Finance but this is probably one of…

We’re all star stuff

Rest in Peace Mira Furlan. A grateful fan will always remember you as Delenn We are star stuff. The universe made manifest while it tries to figure itself out. Delenn You don’t know it (perhaps you do now) but your character’s words made an appearance in John Smith – Last Known Survivor of the Microsoft Wars. JS: The Church of England was a religious organization, which ties into that God thing I told you we would talk about later. They had absolutely nothing to do with either Atlantis or the Atlantians. SK: Then why are we discussing it? JS: Because of the myth—Merlin created the fable—The Maid of Lorraine, which became fact. That, my lady, is the true beauty of…

Nutter Times

Just when I thought newspapers couldn’t become any more tabloid a free copy of the Nutter Times (Epoch News) shows up in my mailbox. Seems something like this shows up every couple of years. Sometimes different titles, sometimes not. For quite a while I found myself on the Hillsdale right-wing propaganda mailing list. For a college they put out some seriously nutter stuff. Honestly I think one or more friends punked me by signing me up for the thing. So far nobody has fessed up. I finally had to write and demand they remove me from the mailing list. I forget what the article was; just remember it jumped both the shark and a whale. I was going to include…

Adults are back in the room!

Yes America, adults are back in the room! It feels like we should have Ronald Reagan’s “Morning in America” commercial playing on continuous loop this morning. We might actually have government again. We certainly haven’t had any government the past four years. The Beer Hall Putsch The Nazi inspired failed coup attempt has been put down. If you think that too harsh a term you need to actually read up on history. This coup attempt came directly from the Nazi playbook. In particular, The Beer Hall Putsch. And so Hitler and the Nazis hatched a plot in which they would kidnap the leaders of the Bavarian government and force them at gunpoint to accept Hitler as their leader. Then, according…

Thank You Adam Kinzinger

Thank you for voting to impeach Donald Trump a second time. This was the right call. I’m even going to quote you here. “if these actions — the Article II branch inciting a deadly insurrection against the Article I branch — are not worthy of impeachment, then what is an impeachable offense?” Adam Kinsinger Yes, there were nine others, I will get to them later. You are from Illinois so you get the primary shout out. It gives me hope that one day Republicans instead of terrorists will once again lead the Republican party. I gotta admit, most of my life it has been embarrassing to call myself a Republican. We had the George Ryan years. (Probably only painful for…

Financial Lessons the Pandemic Should Have Taught You – Pt.2

When there is a wide spread crisis such as COVID – 19, it is inevitable for there to be financial catastrophe to go along with it. In Pt.1 of this article is a starter list of some things a good many people might have wished they thought of ahead of time. Now I’m not saying everyone should have bought land in North Idaho or Montana to install a prep-er bunker and load it with sustenance, weapons and ammo. Nor am I suggesting that cashing in Roth IRAs, 401Ks, and all your stocks, in favor of precious metals will set you up financially. Maybe with the water now well under the bridge, those of us who operate with a bit more…

Financial Lessons the Pandemic Should Have Taught You – Pt. 1

As horrible as the pandemic is in terms of loss of life and general damage to people’s existence, you should have learned some pandemic financial lessons. Here are some financial lessons the pandemic should have taught you, really all of us. This post was inspired by my fellow author and sometimes contributor here, Gregory Lamb. He recently created a post on why you should never get a car loan on another blog because he had some access issues here. Carrying a Credit Card Balance is Not a Lifestyle While a credit card does make life and many purchases easier, you are never supposed to carry a balance as a matter of course. Somewhere along the line people thought “pay it…
