BlockBuster store imageIt’s been a long time twitching towards death. Personally I didn’t even know a BlockBuster location survived. While I wasn’t a big fan of the actual stores, I loved the DVD by mail service. The Dish Network acquisition and killing off of BlockBuster DVD by mail is one of the main reasons I will never do business with Dish Network. So today it was with a twinge of sadness I read this article.

The closings come after a number of other Blockbuster stores have shuttered in recent months. The company’s North Pole location closed in March, leaving only five locations left at that time. Now, the lone remaining Blockbuster store is in Oregon, according to the Anchorage Daily News.

In true Microsoft half-assed fashion, they say the last remaining store is in Oregon, but don’t bother to give the location. I did a tiny bit of poking and it must be one of these.

Unless this list is the list of franchise locations available for purchase. It might be. Lots of locations listed there. From a nostalgic perspective, if you happen to have its address and can take a picture to send, please do. One of the pimps I deal with has been chatting with me about going back to the ghetto of Portland, OR. If they come up on the money, it might be worth one more trip. Just to spend some money at the last BlockBuster in America and maybe sit in Uncle Howard’s plane one last time.
