Review – In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale (2007)

In the Name of the King cover

★★★★☆

Most critics shit on In the Name of the King. They simply don’t understand the appeal or the purpose. I saw In the Name of the King back when it first came out. Now you can watch it for free on Tubi so I watched it again.

Leelee Sobieski

I love this girl. She has the look. There are other actresses copying her in recent times.

Can really pull off the sword and armor thing. They didn’t give her a lot to do in the movie, but she did it well. I just wish she got more work during her youth.

Ray Liotta

Sad that he passed. People always talk about his gangster and crooked cop work and ignore his other stuff. Admittedly the gangster and crooked cop stuff he did was superb. I just wish it didn’t crowd out stuff like In the Name of the King.

Kristanna Loken

“Who is that smoking hot blonde swinging on a vine?” I had to ask myself. Amazing she could show that much hooter and keep them strapped in place while hanging upside down!

She looks amazingly familiar, and not just because I saw this movie a decade or so ago. Yep, she likes the hard action roles.

PainKiller Jane! You can watch that for free on Tubi as well.

John Rhys-Davies

Most of you know this guy from Lord of the Rings.

I remember him from Sliders.

Seems like this guy is in a lot of stuff I like. Just plain good!

Ron Perlman

How can you be into science fiction or science fantasy and not like a movie with Ron Perlman?

I know, directors hate working with him because he shows up not having read the script just trying to ad-lib his way through scenes, but it works here!

Summary

Definitely worth another watch for those of us on the downward slope of “The Hill.” Some familiar and cherished faces in a little film with lots of sword fights and a bit of sorcery. Were I still adding DVDs to my collection, this would get in. It has a rewatchable quality.
