“He let someone in the organization set up a trading account for him” volunteered Stretch. “Put half his pay into it for three years. They promised to use insider information to make trades in sizes which were blow the SEC radar.”

“It worked too!” said Giant defensively.

“Now you have a couple of million you can’t touch without them knowing about, no?” I asked.

“Oui” responded Giant.

“Not much of an escape plan” I stated.

“Each of us only put a hundred thousand into it to get them off our back” continued Stretch.

“I kissed that money goodbye the day I gave it to them” said Slim. “Viewed it as a way for them to fund something without using their own money. I figured we would be dead soon if we didn’t pony up.”

“Yet another thing I’ve never heard of” I said into the air.

“How could you not!” they exclaimed in unison.

Giant continued “We were brow beat about it at every after action meeting.”

“Well, you already know I’ve never been to one of those” I stated. “Management can only manage you if you happen to be around. I make it a point to never be around. Those token few times they do manage to bring me in, it ends much like this. The person from HR who demanded I come in is dead and I lay low for a while.”

“You really think laying low is going to work this time?” asked Slim.

“No” I responded. “This time a rather high body count will be required. Just don’t know which bodies yet. Might have to take down the entire organization.”

“Man I didn’t sign up for that” said Slim in a resigned fashion.

“Nor did I” I responded. “Somehow, when upper management hid from view, adding layers between them and the field, the organization, whole or in part, changed. Those many layers have a tumor. Whether it has spread to all of upper management or not is as of yet unknown. In the old days, before they came up with computer systems they trusted to be secure, an exit was easy. You just had to be willing to kill everyone who knew you. Not really possible anymore. Perhaps that is why they started using computers?”

“Speaking of computers, we need to get some burner phones pretty soon” piped up Stretch. “The only person we have access to who knows much about the computer system is Pretty Little Thing and we need to tap that knowledge before it is gone.”

“Agreed” I said. “After we hit the locker we can all get burners from different places. Should probably load up some prepaid cards too. Sadly, for the amounts we need that won’t be different places.”

“No it won’t” answered Stretch. “I know of a place about an hour outside of Richmond. They will probably take your diamonds too, but, if that gold has any ties to the Confederacy we best melt it down before someone sees an obvious yank like yourself carting it around.”

“Some is Krugerrands and some just nice ingots like a jeweler would get for turning into something pretty.”

“What are you doing with Krugerrands? Aren’t they illegal to own?” asked Giant.

“They were and they are still a bitch to transfer. Well, more than 25 ounces at a time. To avoid that inconvenient detail you have to find someone willing to melt them down to ingots and stamp them.”

“Stamp them?” Slim queried.
