Is the Pope Really Going to Excommunicate J.D. Vance?

There is a lot of chatter among Catholics about Pope Francis possibly excommunicating J.D. Vance. It certainly wouldn’t surprise me. Damned well better not surprise him when it happens. A world leader claiming to be a devout Catholic blatantly violating the church’s most fundamental teaching.

The Stranger

Since many of you reading this won’t have been raised Catholic, please allow a fallen Catholic to impart that which he remembers from Catechism. If you choose to, feel free to read the United Conference of Catholic Bishop’s teachings on the matter. It all boils down to “The Stranger.” The foundation for almost all of the teachings.

For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me

Russian Orthodox vs. Catholic

There is great angst in the religious world that the Russian Orthodox Church opted to be a propaganda machine for Putin much like Fox News instead of excommunicating him. Huge cries from the religious community for it to excommunicate Putin for his atrocities. By many accounts it is no longer a religion because it serves Putin instead of God.

The Catholic Church has much dirty laundry hidden in its closet. The Spanish Inquisition, the Less Than Great Crusades, more recently everyone learning about the clergy buggering alter boys and decades of it being covered up. Oh, and who could forget the Magdalene Asylum that Sinéad O’Connor experienced.

Now is the time to prove to the world it has turned the corner and become a higher moral religion. By excommunicating J.D. Vance the Pope can tell the world The Church is taking out the trash. He’s a Catholic throwing devout Catholics who can speak Shibboleth and are willing to work the shit jobs out of the country in a brutal manner. We can only hope the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops can convince Pope Francis.
