Jupiter Ascending is one of the most enjoyable “kids movies” I have ever watched this side of The Princess Bride. This movie has a very high rewatchable factor. Sean Bean is absolutely phenom in his role. Without him I don’t know if this movie could have succeeded. Mila Kunis really does deliver as the toilet cleaning princess. If you haven’t seen the movie, then I have to tell you that doesn’t mean what you think it does.

Gist of it

Jupiter Ascending is your classic “the Earth is owned by aliens and humans are merely farm animals” plot. Naturally one of the royal aliens was hidden here, a princess, who technically owns the planet. Nice twist, she believes she really is a human with a day job of cleaning toilets.

It’s not what you do, it’s who you are.

Jupiter Rising is a Visual Feast

Despite the heavy use of graphics/special effects, even on a small screen this movie is a visual feast. In the theaters it must have been astounding. Unlike most movies that attempt to be a special effects bonanza this movie keeps to the story line. Even in standard definition this movie will pull you into the fantastic world it builds. Visual story telling at its best!

Summary

You should put this in your DVD collection. It’s one to pop in whenever you want “comfort food.”
