Saying Benedict Cumberbatch is a gifted actor is like saying Niagra Falls has water. Both are true yet both fall amazingly short of describing the magnificence. I am incredibly grateful that he has this amazing work ethic and is just working himself into the ground making great television and movies.
While Benedict does an amazing job, it’s just not quite enough. I suspect it is not enough because I was never a Doctor Strange fan during my comic book reading years. I never knew why, I just didn’t like it. What’s even odder is I did Prince Planet and his rechargeable pendant so that whole drawing power from elsewhere thing wasn’t it. Not the magic thing either because I loved “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.” There is just something about the whole Doctor Strange concept which doesn’t click with me.
Having said all of that, much of the acting is superb. Chiwetel Ejiofor appears to be born for her role in this film. The special effects are eye candy and the action/fight sequences are well done. Even someone who doesn’t click with the story line, such as myself, can enjoy this movie.
