Culturally we Americans have been trained to ignore absurdity unless it is being celebrated. I mean when every government agency which is supposed to protect us has been corrupted by the Koch brothers or the Clintons why expect a fair shake. Walmart get repeatedly convicted of making hourly workers work off-clock and Bloomberg never gets prosecuted.
It is in that spirit when I happened to look down at my Diet Mt. Dew bottle while visiting a family member at the nursing home. Check out the featured image of this post. About 3 servings per container. Each serving is about 12 fluid ounces. There are zero calories per serving, but there are 15 calories per container.

I’ve spent 30+ years in IT. I’ve written programs in COBOL, C, C++, DEC BASIC, FORTRAN and a host of other languages. I have never written one where any number multiplied by zero resulted in a number other than zero. Then again, I never wrote an accounting system for ENRON.
I like Diet Mt. Dew, don’t get me wrong, but, isn’t there supposed to be a government agency which regulates the content on these nutrition labels?
