This past Wednesday I made the mistake of getting lunch at Baker’s Square. Don’t get me wrong, I like the food at Baker’s Square. The ones I’ve been in are clean with good food and usually friendly people working there. The problem was it was Wednesday. Well, on any given day they are pushing pie at you, but on “Free Pie Wednesday” it is worse. As I’m paying and they are pushing, trained to never take no for an answer I finally had to curtly announce loud enough for the person at the other register to turn and look “I’m diabetic! I don’t want pie!”

You would think, that would be the argument ending statement wouldn’t you? I mean it is on the news almost weekly that roughly 8% of the American population are diabetic and they are increasing in number. Even if you somehow manage to never absorb the stats, the thousands of television commercials pushing products to “lower your A1C” ought to give one a slight clue. Drug companies don’t spend millions of dollars advertising drugs which don’t have a large market.

No, the staff was too well trained. “Really? We have sugar free apple pie.”

My stare pretty much told them to just count out my change.

I have raged before that, with big business owning government, average citizens are being raped at every turn without any hope of justice. If there were any justice ever handed out by the Department of Injustice, Jamie Dimon would be rotting on death row. But, the Clinton Organized Crime Family took care of that for $750,000 in speaking fees. Under the Obama Administration, no large donor would ever see the inside of a prison. The Clinton’s saw to that.

This is why we have “sugar free” chocolate chip cookies in big bold letters with “*not a low calorie food” in microscopic fine print on the packaging. Many of these “sugar free” cookies have more calories than 3 Chips O’Hoy cookies and Chips O’Hoy doesn’t even think about calling themselves “a low calorie snack.”

Here’s a fine example.

Sugar free cookies with 150 calories per serving. Take a look here. 1 Medium 3 inch diameter apple has roughly 19 grams of sugar. You simply can’t make a sugar free apple pie.

I really liked President Obama, even voted for him, but, the Clintons are a malignant tumor which will rot his presidency in the history books. What they were able to facilitate under his watch may yet prove more devastating than the two terms Syphilis Willie held office. (We still don’t know if any terrorist group will managed to use “The Global Village” created without first creating a Global Village Council to wipe out the human race, so it is a tight race.)

Consumers weren’t always abandoned to the criminal organizations which run the world. Business schools used to actually teach ethics, real ethics, not the current philosophy of “if we aren’t currently under indictment for it, then it must be legal.” I believe it was Steve Croft who did an episode on “60 Minutes” where he referred to the head of one agency as “a book worm with a badge.” The dude arrested an entire warehouse of Tropicana orange juice because it said “not from concentrate” on the container and it was from concentrate. The company who owned Tropicana simply ignored warning letters about changing their packaging, so he seized the product.

We need him again.

We need him running around arresting warehouses full of “sugar free” products with hundreds of calories per “serving.” We need him setting an industry standard “serving size” so we don’t have companies selling a tiny bag of “cookies,” each smaller than a nickel, claiming we are getting a 10 cookie snack. We need him banning the use of “no sugar added” on all package labeling because it dupes people with medical conditions into thinking there are neither sugar nor calories in the product.

We need him to tell the world in no uncertain terms “There is no such thing as sugar free Apple Pie.”
