Bleeding Steel is both an enjoyable movie and a frustrating one. I know it is an American thing, but I hate it when movies try to straddle English and subtitles. A big part of this movie is in English then it jumps to Mandarin and subtitles. This isn’t a one time switch. It toggles back and forth a lot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Erica Xia-Hou<\/a> was refreshing on screen. You are going to see a lot more of this girl. She’s got martial arts moves. Even if some may have been enhanced by special effects, she sold it. You don’t question it when she does it. Later in the movie when she is out of cop uniform and driving a convertible she’s really hot looking too. If you are going to be on camera it always helps to be hot looking. I lean more towards being a writer so I can eat what I want.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Educational<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I did learn something with this movie. There are actually handrails and a walking path\/strip down the center of each roof of the Sydney Opera House.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yes, I could have learned that had I cared to look it up before. The point is the movie made me look it up. I thought it was some kind of thing they did just for the movie. Why wouldn’t I? all the pictures you generally see are shot from far away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next Generation Hand Off<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

It is kind of sad seeing Jackie Chan<\/a> be old and graying. It happens to all of us if we live long enough but action heroes are supposed to stay young. He was old in The Foreigner<\/a><\/em> too. It almost felt like with this movie he was handing the reigns over to the next generation of martial arts actors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking of that Show Low<\/a> playing Leeson the transvestite hitting on Jackie’s daughter is quite the treasure. He’s got the comic part of Jackie Chan’s roles down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Summary: I didn’t feel cheated. I wouldn’t watch it again because the ping pong between English and subtitles is infuriating. I certainly won’t put it in my collection. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
