The Bag Man<\/em> is another one of these fantastic John Cusack movies that never gets much press. Yes, I saw John Cusack<\/a> was in it and it went on my rental list. I must say that Rebecca Da Costa<\/a> did an outstanding job. She was given a difficult role and she sold it. She reminds me much, both in look and speech, of Scarlett Johansson<\/a>. I do hope to see her in more stuff.<\/p>\n

Cusack is always great and I enjoy most of the roles he takes. I cannot say all because I have not seen all. I didn’t even know this movie existed until I saw it in the list on CafeDVD.com.<\/p>\n

Know this going in, The Bag Man<\/em> has a Pulp Fiction<\/em> feel to it. Not quite as far out there as Pulp Fiction<\/em> but out there. By that I mean we have a Russian midget that isn’t Russian. A bag nobody is supposed to look in and all kinds of weird people trying to kill John’s character while being casual about it.<\/p>\n

Oh, and let’s not forget “the rule.” Anyone who looks in the bag has to be killed. Did I look, yes. Am I going to tell you, no, watch the movie.<\/p>\n

It’s a simple hook but it pulls you in. “What’s inside the bag?” It’s like that big box under the tree at Christmas for a little kid in a family which celebrates Christmas. If lots of people are trying to kill him for the bag then it has<\/i> to be something worth having. A mobster is paying him an insane amount of money to transport it so what could be in a tiny duffel justifying a transport fee like that?<\/p>\n
