Maybe if I played the violin or was into art films about art I could have made it to the end of The Devil’s Violinist<\/em>. I mean the premise of a musical superstar being destroyed by a woman was interesting. I mean if the drugs don’t get them a woman usually does so no great mystery there.<\/p>\n

The Devil’s Violinist<\/em> is just horrible.<\/p>\n

Perhaps it is meant to serve as a warning to any student pursuing a career as a classical musician in an orchestra? If that is the case then fine, they should have put that in the description instead of writing a description to attract a larger general audience. Just look at the wretched review I’m giving it!<\/p>\n

Word to the unwise. Correctly identify your target market with your marketing blurb. I have seen people who like art films about art give this movie high ratings while most regular people empty their colon on it.<\/p>\n

If you want to make a movie about music watch Mr. Holland’s Opus<\/a> first. If you want to make a movie about a musician, watch Bohemian Rhapsody<\/a> first. There just wasn’t any way for an ordinary person to find their way into this movie. I watched quite a bit of it before I finally punted.<\/p>\n

When making a movie about some niche the advice is always the same. You have to have a dufus character for regular people to follow. One that asks the same dufus questions regular people would ask. A regular person is lost as Hell in this world and you didn’t bother to provide a guide or road map.<\/p>\n
