Mom looked exhausted when Gina arrived at Bobbies place. Janet was a whirlwind in the kitchen which drove everyone to seek shelter out on the deck. The rug rats had all been picked up by their mothers despite being invited to supper, for that Gina was thankful. The evening sun felt good and the breeze kept the temperature moderate.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know\u201d mom began, \u201ca girl with your legs should wear skirts more often.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOh lord\u201d said Gina. \u201cI came here to relax mom, not hunt for a man.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s just that your brother is already married with one on the way\u201d mom defended in that I want more grandchildren tone all moms seem to develop.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think Bobby is going to produce more than enough grandchildren for several families mom. Aren\u2019t you tired from chasing three of them around today?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cA good tired\u201d mom pouted. \u201cOne of the few things I have left to look forward to . . .\u201d she trailed off.<\/p>\n

\u201cBesides\u201d Bobby defended \u201cI think Janet has more to say about that than I do.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMore to say about what?\u201d Janet asked as she came out onto the deck carrying a platter.<\/p>\n

\u201cHere honey, let me carry stuff out here for you\u201d Bobby said getting up from his chair.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m pregnant, not an invalid\u201d retorted Janet. \u201cThere are three more trays in the kitchen though and you should have set the table.\u201d She emphasized that point by sticking her tongue out at him. Off to the kitchen Bobby scurried, the dutiful little man servant. Gina rose a bit slower and followed him.<\/p>\n

Supper proceeded with Janet and mom clucking like hens about the brood and how they were today. It was rather shocking for Gina to hear her mom prattling on like a traditional mother and housewife though she had been neither during Gina\u2019s childhood, at least not to Gina\u2019s recollection. In truth she had been much like Gina, a driven scientist. Mother even had the degree to prove it. Gina just had the bank accounts and a few buildings named for her at some smaller colleges. A few at bigger colleges out of the country though those names weren\u2019t as obvious.<\/p>\n

Once the dishes were cleared mom snuck off to bed. Gina poured another glass of wine and headed back out to the deck. Bobby followed soon after.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy so down sis?\u201d<\/p>\n

The question was a bit shocking. She hadn\u2019t thought she appeared down. \u201cJust been thinking\u201d she answered.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNot quite ready to give it all up?\u201d inquired Bobby.<\/p>\n

\u201cOh, I\u2019m more than ready to let our company go\u201d answered Gina. \u201cIt\u2019s just that . . .\u201d<\/p>\n

Janet finished her sentence \u201cthe shell companies are good at hiding and accumulating money, not so good at spending it on a new company though.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat?\u201d Bobby asked.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor a brilliant stud you can be rather dense at times husband. She has more money than she will ever need to fund her dream project. The extra money would let the entire family live a lavish lifestyle and ensure our children educations in the finest institutions by purchasing those institutions to glide past standard entrance procedures, but . . .\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n
